Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?

Yes! Chiropractic treatment is a safe and effective option for women who want to optimize their pregnancy, bring balance to their pelvis, or experience low back pain, sciatica, pubic symphysis pain, headaches and many more challenges that come along with pregnancy.

Research suggests that chiropractic care during pregnancy decreases aches and pains, increases quality of life and decreases labor and delivery times.

What is chiropractic treatment?

Chiropractors restore motion to restricted joints with an array adjustments. Using her hands, she will apply a controlled and rapid force to a restricted area, which allows the joint to move in a normal manner, reducing inflammation and pain. Specific techniques have been developed for pregnancy and postpartum that are gentle and safe for mom and baby.

During the initial visit, your doc will do a thorough health history and physical exam, paying attention to your area of concern and to anything that may be a contraindication to chiropractic care (fractured bone, dislocation, etc.). Treatment includes soft tissue work, adjustments to restricted areas and functional movement exercises for you to use at home.

Do I have to do home exercises?

Health care is a team effort! Your daily routines and activities have a powerful effect on your health and incorporating a few rehab or functional movements can be a great way to help yourself stay out of pain longer. As fantastic as my treatment is, I needs your help to maintain progress on the days that you aren’t in the office receiving care!

What is LMNT? Why do you sell it at the office?

LMNT is a tasty electrolyte drink mix with sodium potassium and magnesium and no sugar. Electrolytes are necessary for proper function of many of the body’s systems. And contrary to popular belief that we all consume too much salt, it is shown the daily recommended intake is much lower than necessary for adequate hydration and function.

I sell LMNT at the office because it is a high quality product. I can feel the difference in my brain and body when I am actually, truly hydrated and it is delicious!

Can you help me with incontinence?

Yes! Leaking during daily activities or exercise is common, but it is NOT normal. With focused functional movement, starting with breathing and progressing into activity, you can restore the health of your pelvic floor.

Can I exercise during pregnancy?

If exercise was a part of your life pre-pregnancy, then YES, keep on moving (be mindful)! If you want exercise to be a part of your life now that you are pregnant, come see us! I want to keep mamas moving until the big day, doing activities they love and staying functional until the end.

I love collaborating with your health care team - OB/Gyns, PTs, coaches and yoga instructors are all part of my network. Let’s put a plan together to keep you active.

Do you take insurance?

At this time I do not submit or bill claims to insurance companies. You can absolutely use HSA or FSA for care.

If your insurance will reimburse Out of Network Providers, I am happy to give you the documents you need in order to submit for the reimbursement. I will always do my best to serve your needs, so please let me know if you need this information. It will be assumed you are not submitting to insurance otherwise.

Do you offer payment plans or sliding scale pricing?

I am happy to work with you to make a plan that accommodates your budget. We can split payments or space them out monthly or whatever is manageable. Please do not let the cost be the reason you don’t get the care you need!

What is acupuncture or dry needling?

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese Medicine that involves insertion of tiny needles or the use of an electronic acupuncture pen (no needle) to stimulate specific points on your body for pain relief and healing.

Dry needling is not acupuncture, it has a phenomenal effect on pain associated with trigger points, knots and tight or tender muscles that develop in muscles. Dry needling can help with things ranging from headache to plantar fasciitis, increasing range of motion and decreasing pain in many conditions.
